Project Description
The cornice, balcony, facade vents, brackets, and other millwork for this restoration was designed by studying some of the finest Federal-style buildings in the Federal Hill neighborhood of Baltimore.
The balcony railing was fabricated from reclaimed ironwork identical to the iron fence at Holy Cross Church in Federal Hill. The facade was painted a dark olive to give it formality, tie the differing brick together, and to to highlight the new woodwork. Facade lighting was installed on the balcony. Gas lamps were installed on each side of the front door. The front door and frame was fabricated from scratch.
All of the millwork (including the brackets, corbels, and vents) as well as the front door and frame was fabricated by cabinetmaker Charlie Wrocinski in his wood shop on Fleet Street in Baltimore. The work was installed by Scott Slinger and Richard Ruese of Baltimorebuilt.
